Stephen Ehret In the 60’s he played with the Wildflower, they had some songs on the very rare bay area music compilation “A Pot Of Flowers”. Merrell Fankhauser wrote "Wipe Out" (the Surfaris got the credit); he was in the band MU and released the legendary album "Fapardokly" (original pressings are collectors items). Luminaries such as John Cipollina, Pete Sears, Nicky Hopkins, Jim Murray, Jimmy Dillon, Jeff Cotton, Louie Ortega and Ed Cassidy have recorded with him. "Stolen Guitar Blues" is the title track and a true story written for Randy California on his CD the Fankhauser Cassidy Band. Fifty Foot Hose in 1968 Dan Healy produced their album, which has been re-released on CD. In 1995 they had a reunion concert, recorded it and released it on CD. They also have a place on www.myspace.com write to Cork Marcheschi 192 Connecticut S.F. CA. 94107

 

Flashing On The Sixties by Lisa Law is a book of memories of those who lived the Sixties; it’s also a riveting portfolio of great photographs of a time that changed a nation. Bob Gibson was one of the original folkies from the sixties folk music boom along with Hamilton Camp, Bob Dylan, and Fred Neil along with countless others and many imitators. Bob's music still lives on due to its timeless quality and the hardworking efforts of his daughter Meridian Green. Jerry Giddens is a musician I highly recommend. "For Lydia", "Hard Times", "Livin' Ain't Easy" are all worth investigating. Ralph J Gleason was one of the most liked and well respected music critics the San Francisco Bay music scene has ever seen. Back in the 60's & 70's he produced some incredible music documentaries that aired on KQED television. Kent Housman wrote the original version of “Roller Derby Star" with his band the Ducks, (which, John Cipollina's group Copperhead recorded with changes in the lyrics by Gary Phillipet). He was also in the group Transatlantic Railroad who recorded a single for Phoenix/Sire in 1968. He joined Blue Cheer and contributed to their last two albums on Phillips.
